Nike Controversy
“How to burn our product properly”, Nike released in a statement. Nike and Colin Kaepernick
recently launched a campaign that caused controversy. Kaepernick is a NFL football player who
started a movement of kneeling during the national anthem. That movement was very
controversial, many people were talking about this and it sparked many discussions at the time.
Currently they are getting more support than hate.

Trump asked in a tweet after the campaign launched””. Trump called Nike's Campaign “a terrible”
message in a interview with Daily Caller. “ maybe there’s a reason for them doing it, but i think as
far as sending a message, i think it’s a terrible message and a message that shouldn’t be sent.
There is no reason for it.” that wasn’t the only thing he had to say, “ Just like the NFL, whose
ratings have gone WAY DOWN Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts. I wonder
if they had any idea it would be this way?”. Many polls were created to see how people felt and
many younger people surprisingly supported what Nike had done, but Trump greatly disagrees.
Trump originally wanted anyone who kneeled during the anthem to be fired, but that did not happen.

People that do not agree with this campaign, started burning the products. In doing so people
burned Nike products. In doing so that gave Nike money because somebody had to buy the Nike
products. Other places distanced themselves from Nike, such as two colleges and a small town
in Louisiana tried to ban Nike products from local clubs from purchasing their stuff… he later
canceled that decision.

Even though this advertisement didn't get all positive responses, it got plenty of attention. Nike got
a buzz worth of $43 million in media exposure!! Nike even released a statement talking about
“how to burn our products properly.”. Nike stock reached a all time high at $83.47. Nike is making
Colin Kaepernick the focus of their 30th birthday of the “Just do it”

“Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” Nike did exactly that and it
definitely got the message across. Although many people disagree with what had happened, i
agree 100%. I don't really understand the problem with it, mainly because of how i was raised,
but i respect their opinion.
small note:[It wouldn't let me indent in the story so rip, and the words originally went off the page
and so itried to fix it :/]

I liked reading this! I wrote a one pager on it as well, it is really interesting to see it from another perspective. I also really liked the last quote you put in this, I feel like it really got the message across!
ReplyDeleteThis was really interesting...I liked how you opened up with a quote from Nike. But I think that there is something wrong with the blog for some reason, it just goes off the page. There were a few grammar issues but, other than that everything was great. Good job!
